Mischief, Magic, Mayhem is a musical journey through changing meters, articulations, and styles. The spirit of the piece as a whole was inspired by the excitement, energy, and occasional chaos that exists in the band room with young musicians. The first movement specifically is a nod to the iconic “Sorcerer’s Apprentice” by Paul Dukas, the second movement is inspired by everyone's favorite wizard, and the third movement features a variation of the famous Dies Irae in the low brass and low reed instruments. Let the musical mischief begin!
